Howard W. Millard,
81, of 300 W Mahoning Street Danville PA where he had resided his entire
life died Monday morning, January 2, 2006 at Grandview Health Homes, Inc
Danville PA. He was born May 27, 1924 in Danville PA the son of the late
Wilbur and Catherine Foust Millard.
He graduated from
Danville High School in 1942. Mr. Millard was a confirmed and active member
of Pine Street Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served on the council.
He was employed as an electrician at Kennedy Van Saun Danville PA, Merck and
Company Riverside PA and for 34 years at TRW in Danville PA where he retired
in 1986. He was a 50 year member of Danville-Mahoning Lodge No. 224 F & AM
and a 50 year member of the Danville Elks. Mr. Millard was a member of the
Caldwell Consistory Bloomsburg PA. He was well known for his volunteer
efforts for the Danville Borough, Danville Elks and his church as an
electrician. During Hurricane Agnes, he was instrumental in getting the
Danville Waterworks plant up and running to supply water to the Danville
area residents. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, coaching baseball
and was an avid fan of Penn State Football.
He is survived by
his wife of 57 years Ruth H. Gulliver Millard whom he married September 4,
1948. He is also survived by one son H. Lynn Millard of Salisbury, MD and
one daughter Catherine Schwoebel and son-in-law William O., Jr. of Havertown
PA. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Nathan and Sarah Millard
and Stephen and Victoria Schwoebel and one sister Hazel Lemon of Danville
PA. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday,
January 5, 2006 at 11:30 AM from the Pine Street Evangelical Lutheran Church
407 Pine Street Danville PA with his pastor the Reverend L. Keith Pittsnogle
officiating. Burial will be held in Muncy Cemetery Muncy PA. Friends will
be received from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Danville-Mahoning
Lodge #224 F & AM will conduct Masonic services at 9:45 AM at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Pine Street
Evangelical Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the
Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA.
