Helen Elizabeth “Des” Richardson, 92, formerly of 404 E Front Street Danville PA died Friday morning December 29, 2006.  She was born October 10 1914 in Danville PA the daughter of the late Joseph W and Sarah E Foulk Gerringer.

She graduated from Danville High School and from the Geisinger School of Nursing in 1936.  Mrs. Richardson was a lifetime member of Shiloh United Church of Christ Danville PA.  She was a lifetime employee of Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA where she was employed as a Supervisor of Employee and Student Health Services.  She retired in February of 1977.  Mrs. Richardson served as Treasurer for Geisinger Nurses Alumni Association for 28 years.  She was a member of the Eidechsen Club and also served on the Board of the Montour County Historical Society.  After her retirement she volunteered at Abigail’s Attic even at the age of 91.  She loved crossword puzzles and pleasure reading.

She was married to Vaughn Thomas Richardson who preceded her in death November 14 1987.  She is survived by one son Thomas M Richardson and his wife Sandra of 4048 Arlington Avenue Mims FL  32754.  She is also survived by two grandsons; Michael V. Richardson and Douglas M. Richardson of Westminster CO and one granddaughter Renee L Lanza and her husband Paul of DeLand FL.  Also surviving are two great-granddaughters; Shelby and Hailey Lanza.   She was preceded in death by one sister Mary B Lynn and one brother Ralph Gerringer.

A private graveside service will be held at Elan Memorial Park Lime Ridge PA at the convenience of the family with her pastor the Reverend Brian E Cope officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Thomas Beaver Free Library 25 E Market Street Danville PA.  Arrangements are under the directions of the Visneski Funeral Home, Inc 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA.
