George R. Dietz, 76

George R. Dietz, 76, of 1215 Continental Blvd Danville PA went to be with his Lord Monday afternoon, February 20, 2006 at Millville Health Center Millville PA.  He was born October 27, 1929 in Danville PA the son of the late George C. and Emily A. Roberts Dietz. 

He graduated from Danville High School and served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.  Mr. Dietz was a self-employed barber in Danville PA for over 63 years.  He was a member of Shiloh United Church of Christ Danville PA.  He was a lifetime member of both the Danville Moose and Danville Elks.  His other memberships included Washington Hose Company Danville and he was  a past commander of the Danville VFW Post 298.  Mr. Dietz was a former chairman of the Montour County Democratic Committee.  He also served as the Montour County Zoning officer for 33 years and was chairman of the Valley Township Municipal Sewer Authority.  His interests included big game hunting, annual fishing in Canada in the 1000 Islands Chain and woodworking in his shop at home. 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Beulah Mae Reeder Dietz whom he married August 6, 1950 on October 23, 2005.  He is survived by two sons; Jeffrey G. Dietz of Danville PA and Rodney S. Dietz of Danville PA.  Also surviving are two daughters, Charmaine L. Frasch and her husband Charles of Largo, FL and Patricia J. Herwick of Danville PA.  He is survived by seven grandchildren; Michelle Getkin, Andria Derr, Dawn Anderson, Charles Frasch, Lindsey Dietz, Danielle Dietz and Douglas Dietz.  Also surviving are five great-grandchildren; Kody and Kasey Getkin, Jonathan and Alexander Derr and Colby Anderson.  A sister, Shirley Dietz, preceded him in death in infancy.   

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 25, 2006 at 1:00 PM from Shiloh United Church of Christ 500 Bloom Street Danville PA with his pastor the Reverend Brian E. Cope officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery Danville PA.  Friends will be received from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the church.  Military rites will be accorded by the Montour County Veterans Association.  Memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh United Church of Christ.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Visneski Funeral Home 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA  17821.
