Edith K. Hartman, 99, of 1505 Bloom Road Danville PA died Wednesday morning November 1, 2006 at Grandview Health Homes, Inc. Danville PA.  She was born August 24, 1907 in Washingtonville PA the daughter of the late Nathaniel and Harriet Lazarus Keefer.

She graduated from Turbotville High School and from Bloomsburg State Teachers College with a degree in education.  Mrs. Hartman was a fourth grade teacher at Mahoning Cooper Elementary School Danville PA for many years retiring in 1969.

Mrs. Hartman was a member of St. Peterís Lutheran Church Grovania PA where she served as pianist for many years.  She was member of the Montour County Historical Society.  She was a member of the Order Of The Eastern Star Chapter 186 Danville PA and a member of the Calvary Commandry #37 Auxiliary Danville PA.   She was also a member of the Acacia Club Danville PA.  Mrs. Hartman enjoyed volunteering at Grandview Health Homes and Geisinger Medical Center for over 15 years.  She was an assistant leader for the Montour County 4H for 20 years.  Mrs. Hartman was a life member of both the Alumni Association of Bloomsburg University and the Retired Teacherís Association.

Mrs. Hartman enjoyed flower gardening and writing letters.  She was especially fond of talking on the telephone with her family and friends.

She was married for 44 years to the late James Henry Hartman on May 18, 1940 who preceded her in death October 5 1984.

Mrs. Hartman is survived by one son J. Barry Hartman and daughter-in-law Faye of Danville PA and two daughters; Nancy Teal and son-in-law David of Jackson MI and Donna Goldsmith and son-in-law David of Atlanta GA.  She is also survived by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by one sister, Helen Schnure of Grandview Health Homes, Inc. Danville PA.  She was preceded in death by one brother Allen Keefer.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 6, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA with the her cousin the Reverend Allen F. Acor officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Peterís Lutheran Church Cemetery Grovania PA.  Friends will be received from12:30 PM until the time of service at the funeral home.  The family will provide flowers.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peterís Lutheran Church Memorial Fund c/o Barbara Carl 170 County Line Drive Bloomsburg PA.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA.
