Duane G. Winnie,
48, of 320 Baldtop Road Danville PA died Monday morning, July 24, 2006 at
Geisinger Medical Center Emergency Room Danville PA. He was born March 4,
1958 in Mount Kisco, NY the son of Duane D. Winnie of Shokan NY and the late
Philonpna Ruocco Winnie.
He graduated from
Outeora Central School in Boiceville NY where he sang in the choir.
Mr. Winnie was an accomplished mechanic employed by Bryantís Towing in New
York for many years before moving to Danville PA in 1991. He owned and
operated Winnieís Towing in Danville PA and then was employed by Phase III
Towing in Riverside PA. He was also employed as a shop foreman and parts
manager by Joe and Janís Charter and Tours, Inc. Danville PA. His
employment at Joe and Janís also included being a school bus driver of Bus
He was a member of
First Baptist Church Danville PA. Mr. Winnie was an avid baseball
enthusiast which included being a Little League and Senior League coach and
umpire. Mr. Winnie was also a traveling baseball coach. He enjoyed
following the New York Mets. He also enjoyed following the Danville
Wrestling team which included his sons Duane and Daniel. Mr. Winnie also
enjoyed tinkering with older cars. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping
He is survived by
his wife of 26 years Denise Cutler Winnie whom he married September 1, 1979
and three sons; Duane A., Daniel N. and David J. Winnie, all at home. He is
also survived by two daughters; Kimberly A. Hess of Danville PA and
Christina L. Hess, at home. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Matthew,
Mya, Kendra and Hannah Hess. He is also survived by one sister Donna
Winnie. Also surviving is a sister-in-law Phyllis Litts of Port Ewen NY;
one niece, two nephews and one great-niece.
will be held Friday, July 28 2006 at 11:00 AM from the First Baptist Church
20 Brookside Drive (off of Route 642 E) Danville PA with the Reverend David
J. Mouw officiating assisted by the Reverend James P. Madas of Kingsley
Community Church Kingsley PA. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery
Danville PA. Friends will be received Thursday evening from 7-9 PM at the
church and also from 9:45 AM until 10:45 AM Friday at the church.
