William P. Steinman, 74

August 18, 2005

William P. Steinman, 74, of 7 Kaseville Road Danville, PA died Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at his residence.  He was born August 3, 1931 in Riverside, PA the son of the late Alex Steinman and Hester Pursel Steinman McFarland. 

He attended Danville Schools.  Mr. Steinman served in the PA National Guard for 22 years including two years active service in Korea (1950-1952) in the 176th Armored Field Artillery Battalion.  He was a life member of the Turbotville VFW Post 8206 and the Clayton New York American Legion Post 821.  Mr. Steinman was employed by Merck and Company in Riverside, PA for 32 years.  

He is survived by his wife Ellen M. Kuhn Steinman.  He is also survived by one son Gary Steinman and his wife Christine of Danville, PA and three daughters; Jean Rarig and her husband Larry of Lancaster, PA, Laurie Maloney and her husband Thomas of Danville, PA and Lynn Gillespie and her husband Andy of Danville, PA.  He is also survived by two stepsons; Charles Shultz and his wife Christi of Benton, PA and Eugene Shultz of Mt. Carmel, PA and three stepdaughters, Stacy Bisset and her husband Kevin of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Joni Michaels and her husband Daniel of Catawissa, PA and Peggy Kershner and her husband Jim of Catawissa, PA. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren and one sister Martha Heiser and her husband Richard of Chatsworth, CA

Mr. Steinman was preceded in death by one infant son Randall William in 1949 and two brothers; Andrew Steinman in a plane crash in 1949 and his twin brother Wilson Steinman in a car accident in 1966.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at 11:00 AM from the Visneski Funeral Home, Inc.10 W Mahoning Street Danville, PA  with the Reverend Dennis W. Derr Trinity United Methodist Church officiating.  Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville, PA with military graveside services accorded by the Turbotville VFW Post 8206.  Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of service.  Memorials may be made to Geisinger Hospice Memorial Fund 100 N Academy Avenue Danville, PA  17822-24-11.
