Samuel B. Blue, 82

November 8, 2005

Samuel B. “Sam” Blue, 82, of Riverside, PA died Monday morning November 7, 2005 at his residence.  He was born July 14, 1923 in Danville, PA the son of the late Walter A. and Ruth Remick Blue. 

He graduated from Danville High School in 1941 and from Utilities Engineering Institute in Chicago, IL in 1948.  He also took courses at Penn State Harrisburg Campus.  Mr. Blue served in the United States Air Force as a medic during World War II. 

Mr. Blue was self-employed for 42 years in insurance and real estate retiring in 1985.  After retiring, he enjoyed raising flowers and growing fruit trees.  He was a member of Shiloh United Church of Christ Danville, PA where he served on several committees and was in charge of opening and closing of Adult Sunday School.  Mr. Blue was a member of the Robert Burns Lodge #464 F & AM Harrisburg, PA and the Harrisburg Consistory.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Ellen G. Salsbery Blue whom he married October 2, 1949.  Also surviving is one daughter, Janice B. Fry and son-in-law Terry W. of Lancaster, PA and four grandchildren.  Also surviving is one brother Charles Blue of Harrisburg, PA and four sisters; Alice Geise and brother-in-law Austin of Danville, PA; Grace Reinaker of Danville, PA; Phyllis Tysenn and brother-in-law Walter of Moorestown, NJ and Jean Reynolds and brother-in-law Clarence of Northumberland, PA.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by three sons;  David S. Blue, Douglas B. Blue and Donald S. Blue and one daughter Marjorie Blue.  Also preceding him in death were two brothers; Max L. Blue and John W. Blue. 

Private funeral services will be held from the Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 West Mahoning Street Danville, PA with his pastor the Reverend Brian E. Cope officiating. Burial will follow in Straub’s Lutheran Cemetery Danville, PA.  Memorial contributions may be made Shiloh United Church of Christ 500 Bloom Street Danville, PA  17821
