Wertz, 87, of 214 Logan Run Road Danville, PA where he was born and lived
his entire life died Tuesday, August 02, 2005 at his residence. He was born
October 30, 1917 the son of the late Raymond and Blanche McFarland Wertz.
graduated from Danville High School in 1935. Mr. Wertz was a general farmer
and was employed as an insurance agent for Briar Creek Mutual Insurance
Company of Orangeville, PA for many years. He was a member of the former
Rushtown United Methodist Church and Klinesgrove United Methodist Church RD1
Sunbury, PA. Mr. Wertz was a member of the Eastern States Farmerís
Cooperative, Dairymenís League and Northumberland Conservation District. He
was a Northumberland County 4-H Leader and a volunteer at Geisinger Medical
Center Danville, PA for 19 years. Mr. Wertz enjoyed gardening and raising
chickens. He especially enjoyed crocheting rugs and chair pads which he
entered in local Fairs winning numerous awards and Best of Show.
survived by his wife of 61 years, Alice C. Wintersteen Wertz whom he
married November 10, 1943. He is also survived by two sons; Leon C. Wertz
and daughter-in-law Vivian and Neil P. Wertz and daughter-in-law Susan; both
of Danville, PA and two daughters; Alice M. Clark and son-in-law John H. of
Emmaus, PA and Marian M. Davis and son-in-law Tim of Danville, PA.
Also surviving are six grandchildren; Paul S. Wertz, Vicki M. Meyers,
Christopher N. Wertz, Jennifer S. Kappen, Gerald C. Wertz and Alan J. Wertz
and two great-grandchildren; Marshall L. Wertz and Chloe E. Kappen.
also survived by one sister, Emily Dawson of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He was
preceded in death by one brother, W. Kenneth Wertz in 2004.
services will be held Friday, August 5, 2005 at 11:00 AM from the Visneski
Funeral Home, Inc 10 West Mahoning Street Danville, PA with his pastor the
Reverend David W. Stough officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows
Cemetery Danville, PA. Friends will be received Thursday evening from 7-9
PM and also from 10:00 AM until the time of service Friday. The family will
