Marian E. Huntington, 83, recently of 222
Oak Lane, Lewisburg (formerly of Riverside) passed from this life into
eternal life with the Lord Jesus Christ, after a rapid decline in health,
Wednesday morning, November 30, 2005 at the home she and her husband shared
with her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Larry Weidman. She was born July
6, 1922 in Danville, the daughter of the late Melvin W. Seidel and Mabel E.
(Haas) Seidel Burke.
She was married to C. Frank Huntington
September 7, 1946 with whom she recently celebrated their 59th
Marian was a graduate of the Danville High
School Class of 1940. She was employed at the South Danville Planning Mill
in Riverside as a secretary/bookkeeper, assisted her husband in the
operation of a small grocery store at the corner of Walnut and Railroad
Streets, was a homemaker for a number of years and then was employed as
secretary/receptionist at radio station WPGM in Danville from 1964 to 1971.
A life-long member of the First Baptist
Church of Danvilie, Marian taught the Beginner Sunday School Class for 24
years, assisted her husband as a Youth Leader, was a member of the choir,
the Friendship Class and Adult Sunday School Class. Mrs. Huntington was also
active in the Danville Christian Women’s Club, serving on the decorating and
telephone committees. Marian recognized the value and worth of many family
members and friends by faithfully sending them cards on special occasions
and in times of need. Some of her favorite activities included handwork,
crafts, showing off pictures of her grand and great-grandchildren and
recreational camping with family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Huntington
is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Larry Weidman; three
grandchildren, Krista and her husband August Curcio of Aipharetta, GA; Shawn
Weidman, Columbia, SC and Rebecka Weidman of Philadelphia. Also surviving
are four great grandchildren, Kara, Katy, Gustin and Aiden Curcio and many
nieces and nephews.
Marian was the last surviving member of her
immediate family being preceded in death by her sisters Margaret Smith and
Emily Heim, her brother Robert Seidel and two half brothers, James and
Funeral services will be held Saturday,
December 3, 2005 at 1:00 pm at the First Baptist Church, 20 Brookside Drive,
Danville, PA with Pastor Emeritus Calvin R.Beveridge and Pastors Harry
Wonderland and David Mouw officiating. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows
Cemetery. Friends will be received on Friday evening from 6-8 pm and from
11:30 am to 1:00 pm at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the
