Lester H. Lee, 92

December 6, 2005

Lester H. Lee, 92,  of 306 Franklin Place Bloomsburg, PA and formerly of Espy, PA  died Tuesday morning, December 6, 2005  at The Bloomsburg Healthcare Center Bloomsburg, PA.  He was born May 20, 1913 in Orange Township, Columbia County, Pennsylvania the son of the late Oscar C. and Bertha E. Hartman Lee.

He graduated from Scott Township High School in 1931 and also from the Wilkes-Barre Business College in 1933 with an Associate Degree in Business.  He was employed as a wilton weaver by Magee Carpet Company Bloomsburg, PA for 40 years retiring in 1975.  Mr. Lee was a member of the First Church of Christ Bloomsburg, PA where he served as Elder, Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent and as a basketball coach.

He was a member of Washington Lodge #265 F & AM Bloomsburg, PA; Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg, PA  and the Irem Temple in Dallas, PA.  He was a life member of the Espy Fire Company and was a member of the Scott Township Firemenís Relief Association.   Mr. Lee regularly attended the Bloomsburg Senior Citizenís Center.  He was Espyís first Little League coach and he helped organize the South Columbia Pre-Teen League.  An avid sports fan, Mr. Lee especially enjoyed watching the Washington Redskins and the Pittsburgh Pirates.  He and his wife traveled extensively throughout North America with the Wally Byam Caravan Club where they often served as chaplain. 

He was married for 47 years to the late M. Marguerite Hering Lee who preceded him in death December 4, 1987.  He is survived by two sons; Lanny L. Lee and daughter-in-law Ann of Danville, PA and Barry J. Lee and daughter-in-law Carol of Bloomsburg, PA and two daughters; Lois L. Hess of Bloomsburg, PA and Dixie E. Lee of Sarasota, Florida.   Also surviving are six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one brother, Howard A. Lee in 1929.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 9th, 2005 at 11:00 AM from the First Church of Christ 107 Deussen Drive Bloomsburg, PA which is located off of Route 11 South of Bloomsburg, PA with his pastor the Reverend Eric Miller officiating.  Burial will follow in the New Rosemont Cemetery Bloomsburg, PA.  Friends will be received from 7-9 PM Thursday evening at the church and also from 10:00 AM until the time of service.  Washington Lodge #265 F & AM will conduct Masonic services Thursday evening at 8:00 PM.  Memorial contributions may be made to either The First Church of Christ 107 Deussen Drive Bloomsburg, PA  17815 or PA PETS 5th Street Bloomsburg, PA 17815.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 West Mahoning Street Danville, PA
