Kenneth B. Watts,
90, of 21 E
Mahoning Street Danville, PA died Tuesday, September 27, 2005 at 8:22 AM at
Select Specialty Hospital in Geisinger Medical Center Danville, PA where he
was a patient since September 7, 2005. He was born May 26, 1915 in Jordan
Township Lycoming County PA the son of the late Seeley A. and Erma Grace
Lore School Jordan Township and was a graduate of Millville High School.
He is survived by
his wife the former Lillian L. Barnhart. They celebrated their 63rd
wedding anniversary on February 15th, 2005.
Earlier in life he
worked as a herdsman on dairy farms in the Millville area milking, feeding
and breeding Holstein cows. After moving to Danville in 1951 he worked as
an auto mechanic and on the assembly line at Kennedy Van Saun. He retired
from Danville State Hospital as head of the grounds crew in 1978.
He was an active
member of Pine Street Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served on
various committees and was a sexton for many years. He held offices in
Valley Grange #1184, Gideons and Golden Agers. He was also a lifetime
member of the Danville Elks. He was a member of 39 Plus and Columbia County
Federation. He was also a member of the Washies, Friendship and East End
Fire Companies Danville, PA. Mr. Watts loved to hunt, enjoyed fishing trips
to Canada, bowling and playing pinochle.
In addition to
his wife, he is survived by three daughters; Connie Marsch and son-in-law
Ned of Milton, PA; Nancy Manger and son-in-law John of Hatboro, PA and Lois
Levan of Bloomsburg, PA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, 13
great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter__. Also surviving is
one brother Myron Watts of Unityville,PA and his stepmother Geraldine Watts
of Grandview Health Homes, Danville, PA. He is also survived by his
stepbrother Harry Berger of Millville, PA. He was preceded in death by one
brother Harold in infancy and one sister Grace Watts.
services will be held Saturday October 1, 2005 at 10:30 AM from the Pine
Street Evangelical Lutheran Church 407 Pine Street Danville, PA with his
pastor the Reverend L. Keith Pittsnogle officiating. Burial will be in Twin
Hills Memorial Park 3332 Lycoming Mall Muncy, PA. Friends will be received
Friday evening from 7-9 PM from the Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W
Mahoning Street Danville, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to the
Pine Street Evangelical Lutheran Church.
