Esther M. Wintersteen, 91

December 24, 2005

Esther M. Wintersteen, 91, of 518 Ferry Street Danville, PA died December 23, 2005 at Grandview Health Homes, Inc. Danville, PA.  She was born May 29, 1914 in Berwick, PA the daughter of the late Wilbur L. and Lillian Mausteller Stephens.   

She graduated from Bloomsburg High School and attended the Bloomsburg State Normal School.  Mrs. Wintersteen volunteered for many years at the Geisinger Medical Center Danville, PA and at Thomas Beaver Free Library Danville PA where she taught people to read.  Mrs. Wintersteen was a member of the Pine Street Evangelical Lutheran Church Danville, PA. 

She was married for 61 years to the late Warren W. “Steenie” Wintersteen who preceded her in death August 27, 1994.  She was also preceded in death by her daughter Margy Lou Wintersteen in 1977.  Surviving is one brother Wilbur R. Stephens and his wife Emanell of Lime Ridge, PA and two nephews. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at 1:00 PM from the Pine Street Evangelical Lutheran Church 407 Pine Street Danville PA with her pastor the Reverend L. Keith Pittsnogle officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Paul’s “Straub’s” Lutheran Cemetery Frosty Valley Road Danville, PA.  Friends will be received from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at the church.   Memorial contributions may be made to Thomas Beaver Free Library 25 E.
