WARREN, Ohio —
Douglas Fred Stauffer, 49, died Aug. 29, 2005, in his home. Born Jan.
19, 1956, at Geisinger Memorial Hospital in Danville, Pa., he was the son of
LeRoy W. and Patricia Rhoads Stauffer of Danville.
He moved to Ohio
with his family when he was 5 years old and grew up in Howland Township,
outside Warren. He attended school in Howland Township as well as Culver
Military Academy in Indiana and the Stowe School in Vermont before
graduating in Ohio. He participated in Cub Scouts and Little League as a
youth, and spent several years sulky racing Welsh Ponies in Northeast Ohio
with his mother. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church of Warren. He
loved animals, particularly his dog, Cocoa, and enjoyed cooking, working
outdoors and gardening. He worked in landscaping in Texas for several years
before returning to Ohio.
In addition to his
parents, he is survived by a daughter, Stacey Lee Stauffer of Niles, Ohio; a
brother, Michael L. Stauffer of Danville; two sisters, Cynthia L. Stauffer
of Hillsborough, N.C., and Pamela Stauffer Christine of Berwick, PA.; two
aunts, Jane Ann Hales of Monaca, Pa., and Connie Rhoads McGarry of
Clearfield, Pa.; a niece, and two nephews.
services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Christ Memorial Episcopal Church
in Danville under the direction of the Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 West
Mahoning Street Danville, PA. Burial will be in the Episcopal Cemetery in
Danville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the
