William G. Gerst

August 29, 2005

William G. “Bill” Gerst, 71, of 212 Ferry Street Danville, PA and a lifelong Danville resident died Monday morning, August 29, 2005 at his residence.  He was born March 16, 1934 in Danville, PA the son of the late John J. and Nellie Rollason Gerst.   

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Friendship Fire Company #1 and the Loyal Order of Moose #1133, all of Danville, PA.  He was a psychiatric aide at Danville State Hospital for 32 years where he retired.  Mr. Gerst was an avid sports fan.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was especially fond of spending time with his family. 

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nancy Stevenson Gerst whom he married April 4, 1960 and two sons, William C. Gerst and daughter-in-law Cathy of Riverside, PA and Charles R. Gerst of Danville, PA.  He is also survived by one daughter, Tracey Pochekailo and son-in-law Joe of Danville, PA and three grandsons; Terry, Donny and Cory.  Also surviving is one brother, Charles R. Gerst of Danville, PA and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. 

Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.  Memorial contributions may be made to Friendship Fire Company #1 111 Ferry Street Danville, PA 17821.
