Helen I. Werner, 89

Helen I. Werner, 89, formerly of 120 West Mahoning Street Danville, PA died Wednesday, September 22, 2004 in Emmanuel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Maria Joseph Manor Danville, PA.  She was born May 9, 1915 in Belvidere, New Jersey the daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth Myers Schaumberger. 

She graduated from Allentown Hospital School of Nursing and the University of Pennsylvania.  She was a Public Health Nurse for the American Red Cross.  During World War II she served in the United States Navy Nurse Corps and taught at the Navy Corps School in Portsmouth, Virginia.  In 1980 she retired as an elementary school nurse in the Danville Area School District. 

Mrs. Werner was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, PA Association of School Retirees, the American Legion and AARP. 

Her husband, Harold H. Werner preceded her in death in July 17, 1990. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 30, 2004 at 11:00 AM from the St. Joseph Catholic Church 18 E Center Street Danville, PA with the Reverend Edward J. Quinlan officiating.  Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.  There will be no viewing.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph School 511 Ferry Street Danville, PA or The Maria Joseph Manor 875 Montour Blvd Danville, PA 17821.
