Quentin L. Karchner
Sr., 84 of 225 Walnut Street, Danville, passed away Friday evening, October
31, 2003, at his residence. He was born May 11,1919 in Berwick, Pa., the
son of the late Orval O. and Hazel D. Lynn Karchner Sr. He graduated from
Danville High School in 1938 and served in the United States Army during
World War II.
Mr. Karchner was a
member of Shiloh United Church of Christ, Danville, Pa. He was employed for
31 years by Merck and Company, Riverside, retiring in 1981. He was an avid
outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid reader.
Mr. Karchner is
survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth M. Holland, whom he married on June
7, 1940. He is also survived by one son, Quentin L. Karchner, Jr. and
daughter-in-law Ruth of Wake Forest, N.C. and a daughter, Nancy A. Carrozza
and son-in-law John of Gilberts, Illinois. Mr. Karchner is also survived by
four grandchildren, John J. Carrozza, Q. Cameron Karchner, Penni L. Stovall
and T. Randall Hirneisen and two great-grandchildren, Savannah Stovall and
Jeffery Hirneisen. One brother, Orval O. “Bud” Karchner of Danville, Pa.
Services will be held Tuesday at 1:00pm from the
Miller-Visneski Funeral Home 10 W.
Mahoning Street, Danville, Pa. with the Reverend Brian E. Cope officiating.
Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville, Pa. Friends will
be received from 12:00pm until time of service. Memorial Contributions may
be made to either Shiloh United Church of Christ, 500 Bloom Road, Danville,
Pa. 17821 or American Lung Association.
