Marguerite Patterson, 87, of 314 Lower Mulberry Street Danville, PA died
Wednesday evening, January 7, 2004 at her home. She was born March 21,
1916 in Derry Township, Montour County, PA the daughter of the late Harry
and Mabel Morrison Hawkins, Sr.
She graduated from Danville High School in 1933. She was a homemaker. Mrs.
Patterson worked in several stores including The Record Room; Letterman
Bakery, Scott’s Floral and George’s Florist; all in Danville, PA. She also
worked in Special Diets at Geisinger Medical Center. Mrs. Patterson also
owned the Gai-Lin Record Store on Mill Street in Danville, PA.
She enjoyed baking and cooking, winning many Blue Ribbons at the Montour
DeLong Fair where she was a charter member.
Mrs. Patterson was a member of the Pine Street Evangelical Lutheran Church
Danville; Danville Chapter No. 186 Order of the Eastern Star; recording
secretary of Danville High School Class of 1933 monthly luncheons. She was
also the Democratic judge of elections for the Third Ward in Danville for
She was married December 23, 1939 to the late Ralph C. Patterson who died
February 28, 1981.
She is survived by two daughters; Gail I Cole and her husband Donald J. of
Tunkhannock, PA and Linda J. Kreischer and her husband Dale of Catawissa,
PA. She is also survived by four grandchildren; Donald J. Cole, II,
MarcieLynn Doster, Darrick Kreischer and Abigail Kreischer and two
great-grandsons; Donald J. “Trae” Cole, III and Cole Doster. She is also
survived by one sister; Mary Hawkins Mertz, a resident of Kramm Nursing Home
Milton, PA. She was preceded in death by a brother; Harry Hawkins, Jr. and
one sister Lucille Hawkins Patterson. Also surviving are numerous nieces and
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Monday, January 12, 2004 from the
Miller-Visneski Funeral Home 10 West
Mahoning Street Danville, PA with her pastor the Reverend Jeffrey Bohan
officiating. Burial will follow in Straub’s Lutheran Cemetery Danville,
PA. Friends will be received from 12:30 PM until the time of service.
