Harry A. Linker, Sr.

Harry A. “Pete” Linker, Sr., 85, of 612 Pine Street Danville, PA died early Monday morning February 17, 2003, at Geisinger Medical Center Danville, PA.  He was born August 21, 1917 in Danville, PA the son of the late Harry R. and Margaret Ammerman Linker. 

He attended Danville Schools.  Mr. Linker served in the United States Army Company H 112th Infantry Regiment 23rd division during World War II as a Tech 4.  He served in the European Theatre Operation; Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. 

Mr. Linker was employed for 19years as a molder by Kennedy-Van Saun Danville, PA and at the Danville State Hospital as a psychiatric aide for 18 years where he retired in 1982.  He was an active member of the Danville Apostolic Church in Riverside, PA where he faithfully served as a Board Member, Sunday School Superintendant and Sunday School song leader for many years.  

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Edith A. Aikey Linker, whom he married May 17, 1952.  He is also survived by three sons; Harry A. Linker, Jr. and daughter-in-law Helen of Danville, PA; Reverend Benny W. and daughter-in-law Meladene of Dallas, Texas and Joby D. and daughter-in-law Laurie of Dallas, Texas.  One daughter Sally A. and son-in-law Reverend Jerry K. Tipton of York, PA also survive him along with five grandchildren and one great-grandson.  One sister, Gertrude Foulk of Berwick, PA, survives him.  He was preceded in death by four brothers; William, John, Edward and Ellsworth Linker. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00 PM at the Danville Apostolic Church Old Sunbury Road Riverside, PA with his pastor the Reverend Seth E. Avery and the Reverend Jerry K. Tipton officiating.  Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville, PA.  Friends will be received Wednesday evening from 7-9 PM at the church and also from 12:00 PM until the time of service at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Danville Apostolic Church PO Box 309 Riverside, PA 17868.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller-Visneski Funeral Home 10 West Mahoning Street Danville, PA.
