Bruce R. McCracken


June 18, 2003


Bruce R. McCracken, 81, of 1305 Continental Boulevard Danville, PA died Tuesday afternoon, June 17 at his home.  He was born January 25, 1922 in Riverside, PA the son of the late Bruce A. and Edna E. Cleaver McCracken. 

He graduated from Danville High School in 1939.  He served as a corporal with the United States Army in India during World War II.  He was employed as an office manager by Western Union Telegraph Company for 31 years retiring in 1972.  Mr. McCracken also served as Valley Township Secretary-Treasurer in Montour County for two decades retiring in March 1995.  He was a member of American Legion Post 44 Northumberland, PA; Montour Delong Fair Association and AARP.  He was married for 41 years the late Dorothy J. Sandel McCracken who died June 29, 1987. 

He is survived by two daughters; Alice E. McCracken Danville, PA and Jane L. Shultz of Danville, PA; a grandson Jamie F. Schenck and a granddaughter Jody L. Schenck.  He was preceded in death by three brothers; Clarence R., Allen C. and Ralph A. McCracken.

Funeral services and burial were private in the Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville, PA under the direction of the Miller-Visneski Funeral Home 10 West Mahoning Street Danville, PA.  Memorial contributions may be made to Columbia Montour Home Hospice 599 E 7th Street Bloomsburg, PA  17815
