Catherine Young, 90, of 201 Gearhart Street Riverside PA passed away
Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Grandview Health Homes, Inc. in Danville PA.
She was born January 15, 1920 in Rush Township, Northumberland County, the
daughter of the late George W. and Catherine (Mengel) Garman.
attended the Logan Run School and, after moving to Riverside in 1932, the
Riverside School. She was a 1939 graduate of Danville High School.
Young traveled throughout the United States with her husband as he received
military training before being deployed to the European Theatre during World
War II. While staying in Riverside during the war, she supported the war
effort by working as a lathe operator for Rheem Manufacturing, Danville.
She also worked at the former Keeferís Department Store in Danville before
pursuing a career as a homemaker and mother. Mrs. Young was a member of St.
Peterís United Methodist Church, Riverside.
Young was married to Ray C. Young on June 1, 1941 at St. Peterís United
Methodist Church in Riverside PA. He preceded her in death November 3,
also preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Claire Moser and Mrs. Essie
Vincent, and by six brothers, Harry, Lee, Ray, George, Guy and Grant
Garman. She is survived by a daughter, Sylvia and son in law, Larry Knorr
of Orangeville; and two sons; George and his wife Kathy of Lemoyne; and
Collins and his companion, Karen Kruleski, of Danville. She is survived by
four grandchildren, Marilyn Enterline and her companion, Terry Pickett of
Danville; Justin Young, Bloomsburg; Dustin Young, Stillwater; Janelle Young,
Lemoyne; and Dana, Jessica and Ashley Kruleski, Danville. Also surviving
are three great -granddaughters, Samantha Enterline-Ostrander, Dauphin, PA
currently serving with the U.S. Army in Afghanistan, and Whitney and Alyssa
Enterline, Danville and great-great granddaughters, Brianne, Brooke and
Alexis Ostrander. In addition, she is survived by many nieces, nephews and
their extended families.

December 10, 2010 at 11:00 AM from Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning
Street Danville PA with the Reverend Dr. Donald N. Hurley officiating.
Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA. Friends will be
received from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Flowers will be provided by
